Hello Happy CTV29 Producers,

CTV29 is now playing digital files. No more tapes!

Here are the specs for creating your file from your editing program or however you do it. It's important to use these specs because if not there is a good chance your show won't play right, or will play without sound. Your best bet is to create a sample show file and get it to us for testing to make sure it will play right on the Leightronix Nexxus-SDI server we're using.

You can bring in your show on a flash drive, a regular hard drive, your laptop, or a data DVD (not a playable DVD but one used just for storing your .mpg file).

If you can't or don't know how to create an MPEG2 file directly, another way to create the right kind of file is to make a regular DVD, one that's playable in any DVD player, and the "rip" that DVD, which means using software to convert the broken-up MPEG2 file that is a DVD into a single continuous MPEG2 file. We have software at the Studio to do this and can give you a program to run on your PC to rip the file. Also, our Engineer Joe Tyndall can help you figure out how to make files from your editing program. We also have a conversion program that will take your .dv, .wmv etc file and convert it.

Or you can drop them off for CTV29 at the Eugene Mailbox Center in downtown Eugene at 1436 Willamette St (they've donated our mailbox for many years). They're open M-F 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and Sat. 9 am to 2 pm. Darren at the counter will show you the blue drawer where you can leave your media (please include a blue tape ID Label and if it's not a series show, a Cablecast Request Form. These are in the middle blue drawer).

If you have any questions about all this, please contact Tom at 541-729-4855 or Larry at the Studio 541-790-6616.
